Butler’s Wharf Blackout – a unusual romantic date in London
D&D London’s riverside restaurants at Butler’s Wharf – Le Pont de La Tour, Cantina del Ponte, Blueprint Caféand Butler’s Wharf Chophouse – will be ‘blacking out’ electricity from 8.30pm throughout the 10 days of Thames Festival.
Right on one of London’s most romantic spots [beside the river and just in front of Tower Bridge] you will see the Blackout Banquet. A 140-seat banqueting table serving a rotating menu odishes showcasing each of the restaurants.
When we went to the launch on Friday, to begin with we thought that it was a crowded space. We were sitting next to strangers [we became friends by the end of the night], couldn’t really move around a lot and felt like every conversation we were having wasn’t just between the two of us.
It wasn’t until 30 minutes into the dinner that we realised that the limited space was actually not a problem, you don’t need to move a lot while you’re having dinner, and everyone was having their own conversation that they weren’t really interested in ours.
The setting is very romantic, you can only see the candle lights, hear the river and occasionally admire how beautiful the Tower Bridge really is.
Once you’re done with the meal, you can enjoy a walk by the riverside and admire some of London’s best attractions.
We thought that the food was also very unusual [not something we would try every day]. For our main meal we tried pigeon, one of us loved it while the other wasn’t really a huge fan [Nila]. However we both loved the starters and desert.
But the menu will change each day, so make sure you check before you go.
