Lee Cooper and The Makers

lee cooper One of London’s oldest denim brands, Lee Cooper, has hooked up with four young creators who continue to refuse to take the shortcuts of modernity. They want to put their stamp on the world through hard work and determination.

Together, they’ve started a creative campaign, entitled The Makers. The campaign  is inspired  by the words of poet Arthur O’Shaughnessey, who describes the Makers as being ‘The music-makers, the dreamers of dreams, world-losers and world-forsakers, the movers and the shakers.’

Lee Cooper has been crafting clothing in East London since 1908. That’s over a century of making classic denim and workwear. Carpenters, musicians, barbers, chefs, bike mechanics, artists – they’ve dressed them all.

the makerThe beauty of this campaign is that it highlights the authenticity of Lee Cooper’s heritage of being a Brit born brand with a creative drive from its East London roots.

The Lee Cooper Makers are;  Alex Bradley – audio craftsman, Clara Lacy – illustration graduate, Alice Menedelowitz – graduate of London’s Chelsea College of Art and James Tanner – jewellery designer.

The campaign imagery featuring key looks from the Spring/Summer 2013 collection was shot around Brick Lane. For the womenʼs collection, Lee Cooper takes stylistic notes from the 1950s, featuring rockabilly style and travel-infused prints of vintage luggage stamps and traditional signage.

The menʼs collection has a hint of rebel, and prints are influenced by gig posters, British signage, traveling side shows and vintage tattoos.
