Literally a hidden gem – Milk and Honey

secret places in London

Hidden on a street in Soho with no sign indicating what it is, Milk & Honey is only known to people who have heard of it.

Milk & Honey was born in New York City, and opened up in London in 2002. However, the London bar is bigger, with four rooms and a rooftop area (which is closed when it is cold outside). There is a ground floor bar, a lower ground bar, the private red room and the games room where you can watch TV, play playstation, sing karaoke and listen to your own music.

Although we have to admit that we expected something more extravagant, we instantly fell in love with the intimate atmosphere and beautiful warm interior design of this chic bar.

The house rules are another example of the classiness of this bar. Ladies, if a man you don’t know speaks to you, please lift your chin slightly and ignore him. And gentlemen, wait for the ladies to start a conversation.

The music adds to the charming character – they play jazz and swing from the 1920s. The whole bar takes you back in time for a night.

If you are not a member, it is best to reserve a table for Monday night. However, if you book well in advance you can always get a table until 11pm. All in all, it is the perfect setting for a first date. A membership is £250 a year, plus a £50 joining fee.

The prices are reasonable for London standards, a glass of wine is £5.50 and a cocktail is £9.
